31 Days: Join Me

IMG_4367

Join me. Not because I have it all figured out, but because I don’t. I want to see a world where mothers (and fathers for that matter) support each other, even when we don’t agree. Because we all want what’s best for our kids. They are the future. They will inherit the legacy we leave them. Does it really matter whether the child they play with in the sandbox or at the park was breastfed or formula fed? No! Does it matter if they eat all organic, co-slept, or any other number of parenting choices? No!

I want a place where mothers can share their daily frustrations without being told. “Treasure every moment, because it will be gone before you know it.” Yes, this is true and we do try, but sometimes that’s like telling a drowning person to enjoy the water. “Just wait until the teen years” is no better. So you mean it only gets worse? Wow, talk about setting ourselves up to fail. Nothing makes life feel like drudgery more than believing the best is already behind us.

What if instead of looking for ways to prove ourselves superior parents we were open about our failings and supported each other in our struggles. What if we joined together and recognized that we are all on this journey together. It’s not a race, nor is it a contest.

(Besides, that “perfect” parent you can’t stand today could be an in-law 15 or 20 years from now)

Galatians 6:2-4 (NIV)

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.  If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.  Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.
